• Represented Portugal at the 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, finishing third.
• Scored a dramatic goal − the first of his senior career − in the last minute of extra time away to AZ Alkmaar in the semi-final of the 2004/05 UEFA Cup, sending Sporting through to the final on their home ground; played from start to finish in the final against PFC CSKA Moskva (1-3).
• Left Sporting for Reggina but suffered a serious injury shortly after arriving in southern Italy and never made an appearance for the club.
• Returned to his homeland and newly-promoted Olhanense in summer 2009; moved on to Braga after half a season and starred in the Arsenalistas' run to the UEFA Europa League final in 2010/11.
