A disappointing experience at AFC Ajax now behind him, Michael Krohn-Dehli has developed at Brøndby IF into a consistent and effective winger. Morten Olsen has made increasing use of him and with his goals in the last two UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers against Cyprus and Portugal, his place in the team at the finals looks all but assured.

• Played youth football for Brøndby before Ajax recruited him to their illustrious academy in 2002.

• Unable to break into the Ajax first team, he was sold by coach Ronald Koeman to Eredivisie rivals RKC Waalwijk, coached by another Koeman, brother Erwin, and made 31 league appearances, scoring two goals, in his debut campaign.

• Re-signed by Ajax in 2006, he made just three substitute appearances under coach Henk ten Cate before the winter break, during which he was sent on loan to Sparta Rotterdam; following another season of inactivity at Ajax in 2007/08, he returned home to join Brøndby, making his Superligaen debut against rivals FC København – a 1-0 home win – and scoring on his European debut in the UEFA Cup against Rosenborg BK.

• First capped at senior level by Denmark in a UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against Liechtenstein on 11 October 2006, he did not begin to feature regularly for his country until the UEFA EURO 2012 campaign, in which he made seven appearances, all in the starting XI, and scored decisive goals in the final two matches against Cyprus (4-1 away) and Portugal (2-1 at home).

• Completed 100 Superligaen appearances for Brøndby in October 2011, though he is still waiting to win his first major trophy with the club.
