Alexandros Tzorvas

An uncapped and unused squad member at UEFA EURO 2008, Alexandros Tzorvas kept goal in all three of Greece's matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He spent three seasons with Panathinaikos FC, winning the domestic double in the second of them, before joining Sicilian club US Città di Palermo in 2011.

• Joined Panathinaikos as a youth and made it into the first-team squad in 2001/02 but was no more than third choice and spent the next three years playing in Greece's lower divisions on loan at Agios Nikolaos FC, Markpoulo FC and Thrasivoulos Fylis FC.

• Finally made Panathinaikos debut on the final day of the 2006/07 season, but limited opportunities forced him to leave for OFI in summer 2007 in a trade-off with another goalkeeper, Orestis Karnezis.

• His first regular top-flight football came in 2007/08 at the island club, where his impressive performances caught the eye of Greece coach Otto Rehhagel, who, out of the blue, selected him for UEFA EURO 2008 − despite OFI's 12th-place finish in the Greek Super League with 49 goals conceded in 30 games.

• Returned to Panathinaikos that summer but it took him a year to displace Mario Galinović as the team's preferred keeper; made 26 league appearances in the Greens' 2009/10 Super League title triumph and also kept a clean sheet in the cup final as the double was completed with a 1-0 win against Aris Thessaloniki FC.

• Outstanding in Greece's 2010 World Cup qualifying play-off defeat of Ukraine, keeping his goal intact for the full 180 minutes, he was rewarded with a place in the team at the finals, where he conceded five goals in three games; recalled for vital last two UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers against Croatia (2-0) and Georgia (2-1).
