A skilful, unpredictable midfielder with a potent right-foot shot, Zdravko Kuzmanović was born and brought up in Switzerland but opted to play international football for Serbia. He spent two and a half years in Italy with ACF Fiorentina before joining VfB Stuttgart in August 2009.
• Born in Thun where his professional football-playing father Ljubomir ended his career, he played at youth level for BSC Young Boys before making his Swiss Super League debut with FC Basel 1893 under coach Christian Gross.
• Played minor role in Basel's run to 2005/06 UEFA Cup quarter-finals but excellent start to 2006/07 campaign led to mid-season move to Fiorentina.
• Made his senior debut for Serbia in a UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against Finland in Helsinki on 2 June 2007.
• Made 34 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina in 2007/08 and also helped Viola into UEFA Cup semi-finals, scoring one goal, against Everton in round of 16; made five UEFA Champions League group stage appearances in 2008/09.
• Left Fiorentina for Stuttgart in 2009 and scored in successive UEFA Champions League away fixtures at Sevilla FC (1-1) and Rangers FC (2-0), registering his first Bundesliga goal, against Hertha BSC Berlin (1-1), in between; recorded two starts, five substitute appearances and one goal for Serbia in successful 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
