Abdoulay Konko

A former Juventus trainee, French-born Abdoulay Konko spent his whole career in Italy until joining Sevilla FC in 2008 as the replacement for FC Barcelona-bound Daniel Alves. A powerful, hard-running right-back, he can also operate as a winger.

• Born to a Senegalese father and Moroccan mother in Marseille, he joined the Juventus academy aged 18.

• Despatched on loan to Serie B club FC Crotone, with whom he accumulated 74 appearances in two seasons, scoring seven goals.

• Moved to Serie A club AC Siena in 2006; helped Tuscan outfit avoid relegation by one point and scored first Serie A goal in 3-1 home win against FC Messina Peloro on 14 October 2006.

• Spent 2007/08 season at newly promoted Genoa CFC, missing just one league game and scoring three goals, including a winner away to Siena (1-0).

• Transferred to Sevilla in €9m deal, signing five-year contract with the Andalusian club; made Liga debut on 31 August 2008 against Real Racing Club. More prominent in 2009/10, starting four of six UEFA Champions League group games.
