Under-21 debut: 1-1 v Romania (21/08/2007)

• Sent off in England's opening game at the 2009 finals (2-1 v Finland) but regained his place in the team and came on at half-time in the final against Germany.

• Has spent the past two seasons on loan at Wolves, helping keep the Midlands club in the Premier League.

• With first-team chances at a premium with Chelsea, he joined Hamburg on a four-year deal in May 2010.
