• Lovren started out in the youth academy of NK Karlovac before joining Dinamo in 2004, making his debut two years later as a substitute against NK Varaždin (5-3).
• Spent 2007/08 on loan at Zaprešic before returning to Dinamo, where he played in the UEFA Cup and, the following season, every minute of his side's UEFA Europa League group campaign.
• Capped at various youth levels, he made his senior debut for Croatia as a second-half substitute in a friendly against Qatar on 8 October 2009 and scored his first international goal during a UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying victory in Malta.
• Joined Lyon on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2010 and, with the likes of Jean-Alain Boumsong and François Clerc injured, made eight Ligue 1 starts.
• Scored his first goal for Lyon on matchday four of the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League in a 4-3 loss to SL Benfica.
