History
• Founded in 1922 by a group of young people under the name TS Lutnia Dębiec, the club that would become Lech Poznań were TS Liga Dębiec when they played their first official on 17 September that year, drawing 1-1 against Sparta Poznań.

• From 1933 to 1994 the club had close connections to the Polish national railways, a link that was embodied in the club's change of name to Kolejowy Klub Sportowy ('Railway Club Sporting') Lech Poznań, with the 'Lech' coming from the name of the mythical founder of Poland.

• It took until 1983 for Lech to win their first title but legends still circulate about their A-B-C attacking trident of the late 1940s: Teodor Anioła, Edmund Białas and Henryk Czapczyk. Anioła was Poland's top league goalscorer in 1949, 1950 and 1951, scoring 20, 21 and 20 goals respectively.

• More tangible success came in 1982 with Lech's first Polish Cup, beating Pogoń Szczecin 1-0 in the final, but better was to come as coach Wojciech Łazarek led them to the 1983 title and successfully defended it in the following season.

• The 1990s brought more trophies; Andrzej Juskowiak and Jerzy Podbrożny were among the stars as Lech won a third title coupled with a Polish Super Cup in 1990, repeated that feat in 1992 and were then awarded another league crown in 1993 after Legia Warszawa and ŁKS Łódź were punished for match fixing. A sixth championship followed in 2010, along with qualification for the UEFA Europa League round of 32.
