History
• Arsenal Kyiv were founded at the start of the millennium under the tutelage of one-time Kyiv mayor Olexandr Omelchenko following the collapse of FC CSKA. The municipal side entered Ukraine's top flight for the second half of 2001/02.

• Arsenal struggled in their first campaign but fared significantly better under Vyacheslav Grozniy in 2002/03, occupying third spot for a long time before ultimately finishing fifth, their highest top-flight finish.

• The club's funding came under threat in 2006 with the election of a new mayor and, having slipped from fourth to 14th, the club entered a turbulent period which lasted until May 2007 when Arsenal was bought by businessman Vadym Rabynovych.

• The Gunners, still without their own stadium, came close to securing a European spot in 2010/11 only to be eliminated in the Ukrainian Cup semi-finals and miss out on sixth place.

• They will grace UEFA Europa League qualifying in 2012/13, however, after securing a best ever fifth-place finish last term following a run of six wins in their final seven league outings.
