History
• With their roots in Frankfurter Fußball-Club Viktoria von 1899 and Frankfurter Fußball-Club Kickers von 1899, which merged in 1911, the club initially enjoyed much success at local and regional levels. They played off against FC Bayern München in the final of the 1932 German championship, losing 2-0.

• Lifted their only national title in 1959, earning the chance to showcase their talents on the continental stage. A 12-4 aggregate victory over Rangers FC in the European Champion Clubs' Cup semi-finals secured a place in one of the competition's most famous finals – a 7-3 defeat by a Real Madrid CF side who clinched their fifth successive crown.

• Founder members of the Bundesliga in 1963, Eintracht proved a consistent presence in the German top flight, claiming five third-placed finishes. Their 33-year stay among the elite ended with relegation in 1996/97.

• Tasted glory in knockout competitions, landing the German Cup on four occasions, including back-to-back triumphs in 1974 and 1975. Collected their only piece of European silverware in 1980 with success in a German-dominated field. Eintracht beat Bayern in the semi-finals, a 5-1 second-leg win overturning a 2-0 first-leg deficit, before VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach were dispatched over two legs in the final.

• Flitted between Germany's first and second divisions after their 1997 demotion but, after a year's absence from the Bundesliga, came sixth in 2012/13, the team's highest finish in 19 years.
