History
• Founded in 1947 by the merger of military schools Pionier and Podchorążak, the team changed name several times before settling on Śląsk Wrocław in August 1957. They made their top-flight debut seven years later.
• The 1970s was the most successful decade in the club's history; they returned to the top flight for 1973/74 and lifted their maiden Polish Cup in 1976. The following year came their first and so far only title, also reaching the 1976/77 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals before losing 2-0 on aggregate to SSC Napoli.
• Śląsk were unable to defend their title, finishing second, but the glory days returned in 1987 as the Army Men claimed their second Polish Cup.
• In 2003 Śląsk were relegated to the third division but former player Ryszard Tarasiewicz returned as coach and immediately secured promotion. He left in 2006 but was back in charge for the following campaign and guided the club back into the top flight.
• Orest Lenczyk replaced Tarasiewicz in September 2010 and guided the Army Men to second and a return to continental football following at 24-year absence. In 2011/12 Śląsk went one better, winning their final three games to leapfrog Legia Warszawa and clinch only their second Polish championship.
