History
• The club began life as Swansea Town AFC, playing at the Vetch Field ground named after the cabbage plants that grew around it. It was not until 1969, when the town was given its city status, that they changed to their current guise.

• Swansea Town won the Welsh Cup (the first of ten) at the first attempt, the competition granting them a place in European competition seven times. Since a change in regulations in 1995, the Swans have not participated in the Welsh Cup.

• Winners of the fourth tier of English football in 1999/2000, Swansea moved into the Liberty Stadium in 2005 and returned to the second division in 2008.

• Brendan Rodgers guided them into the Premier League in 2010/11 after triumphing in the Championship play-off final. Swansea, who had two seasons in the top flight in the early 1980s, thus became the first Welsh team to feature in the Premier League era.

• Following manager Michael Laudrup's appointment for the 2012/13 season the club achieved their first League Cup title with a 5-0 win over Bradford City AFC, and finished the season in ninth place.
