History
• Taking their name from a local electronics factory in Panevezys, Ekranas first competed in the Lithuanian top division in the days of the Soviet Union in 1969 and are the only side to have been a permanent fixture in the top flight since Lithuania regained independence in 1991.

• Their first tangible success came in 1985 under the leadership of former FK Atlantas player Mindaugas Kaušpėdas, Ekranas winning the Soviet Lithuanian title and taking the cup as well.

• Virginijus Liubšys played in goal in that successful 1980s side before beginning a 17-year spell as the club's coach in 1989; under his leadership Ekranas won league titles in 1993 and 2005 in addition to two more national cups, and the foundations were laid for future successes.

• Liubšys was fully committed to local talent and, while Ekranas have struggled to make an impact in UEFA competition they take enormous pride in the players whose careers they helped to launch; defender Marius Stankevičius, who went on to Valencia CF, and wingers Edgaras and Deividas Česnauskis are among their illustrious alumni.

• After a transitional period following the departure of Liubšys, the appointment of Valdas Urbonas in 2008 started a new era; a clean sweep of domestic prizes in 2010 was the culmination of a run of three league titles in a row and confirmed Ekranas as Lithuania's undisputed top club.
