The Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) is to release a DVD offering skills tuition to the country's young footballers as part of its celebrations for UEFA Grassroots Day.
The DVD, entitled Tækniskóli KSÍ (KSÍ Technical School), will feature about 100 exercises created to enable children to practise with the ball on their own and improve their technical skills. The training drills are presented by some of Iceland's top male and female internationals including Grétar Steinsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Dóra María Lárusdóttir and Margrét Lára Vidarsdóttir, who also appear in interviews giving advice.
All players aged under 16 in Iceland will receive a copy of the DVD as a gift from the KSÍ. Some copies will even be handed over by national-team players during planned visits to youth training sessions to coincide with UEFA Grassroots Day on Wednesday 25 May.
"The aim of this DVD is to have a positive impact on the lives of children who are playing football in Iceland," KSÍ grassroots manager Gudlaugur Gunnarsson told UEFA.com. "We hope it will also encourage children to lead a healthier life and to exercise more, with and without the ball. It will also highlight healthy role models."
