UEFA, as well as FC Sion, was informed on Monday evening by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne of the various steps in the process for obtaining a decision on the merits of the dispute between FC Sion and UEFA.

On 26 September, UEFA requested fast-track arbitration from the CAS.

Having rejected FC Sion's request for a stay of proceedings, the CAS has proposed several dates for the parties to file grievances, statements and responses. The date of the hearing has been set for 24 November, subject to the two parties confirming their availability.

UEFA has constantly insisted on the need for a rapid decision on the merits of the case and has therefore already confirmed its availability, in an effort to respect all of the dates proposed by the CAS.

This latest announcement demonstrates, among other things, that if the dates proposed by the CAS are respected by all the parties, and if the CAS should decide in favour of FC Sion on 24 November, the possibilities examined by UEFA for reinstating FC Sion in the UEFA Europa League are realistic. Moreover, it will be fully compliant with the UEFA Europa League regulations accepted by all the participating clubs.
