UEFA's Executive Committee convenes for its latest meeting of the year in St Petersburg, Russia, on Monday.

The committee, chaired by UEFA President Michel Platini, will hear an update on the centralisation of media rights for the qualifying matches for UEFA EURO 2016 in France and the European qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

All 53 UEFA member national associations have agreed to centralise the rights of FIFA World Cup qualifying and UEFA European Championship qualifying matches, starting in 2014, and ahead of UEFA EURO 2016.

UEFA's viewpoint is that the centralisation of media rights for national team matches should guarantee the national associations more revenue from their qualifying matches, and ensure stable revenues from the qualifying phase – owing to the fact that revenues will be disconnected from the draw results. It is also aimed at strengthening the attraction of the competitions concerned, in line with UEFA's promotion of the identity of national team football.

Preparations for UEFA EURO 2016 – the first to feature 24 teams – are also on the agenda. Approval will be sought in St Petersburg for the admission of new members to the UEFA Coaching Convention, which aims to protect the coaching profession and smooth the way for the free movement of qualified coaches within Europe in accordance with European law.

In addition, new members of the UEFA Grassroots Charter are also set for approval by the Executive Committee. UEFA created the charter with the aim of supporting the grassroots activities of its member associations – these include nurturing women's and girls' football, and developing social programmes such as disability football.

The UEFA Executive Committee's next meeting will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 6 December.
