Italian football mourns Professor Perugia

Professor Lamberto Perugia, a member of the UEFA Medical Committee from 1990–2002 and former head of the Italian Football Federation medical sector, has passed away aged 85.

Italian football is mourning the death of Professor Lamberto Perugia, a former long-standing UEFA Medical Committee member, who has passed away at the age of 85.

Professor Perugia was vastly respected in European football medical circles, in particular as a specialist in knee-related surgery and sports traumatology. He was a member of the UEFA Medical Committee from 1990 to 2002, and a member of the Amical des Anciens circle of former UEFA committee members in the subsequent years. Born in Rome, Professor Perugia was a passionate sports follower with professional links to AS Roma, and headed the medical sector of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
