CAS rejects Olympiacos Volou appeal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has backed the decision by the UEFA Appeals Body, taken last August, to exclude Olympiacos Volou FC from this season's UEFA Europa League.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected an appeal lodged by Greek club Olympiacos Volou FC against the decision by the UEFA Appeals Body last August to confirm the club's exclusion from the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League.

The Appeals Body decided on 15 August 2011 to back the initial decision taken by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body.

In its ruling last August, the Appeals Body also confirmed the decision to award Olympiacos Volou a further three-year ban from UEFA competitions, deferred for a probationary period of five seasons. The Greek side had been found to have breached Article 5 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.
