UEFA today announced an exclusive agreement with major commercial broadcaster TV 2 for the media rights of the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship to be staged next summer in Denmark.
TV 2 will ensure extensive free-to air exposure and a wide coverage of the tournament through its live broadcast of all matches featuring the Denmark team, a semi-final and the final, together with highlights programmes on each matchday. The remaining games of the competition will be shown live on TV 2's sport channel TV 2 Sport.
Additionally, all matches will be streamed live on the broadcaster's website sputnik.dk.
Commenting on the agreement, David Taylor, CEO of UEFA Events SA, said: "We are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of TV 2 as our broadcast partner in the host country for next year's UEFA European Under-21 Championship. This deal is very good news for the competition and particularly for football fans in Denmark, as they will be able to follow the entire tournament on TV2 and on its sports-dedicated outlet, TV 2 Sport."
The final draw for the 2011 UEFA European U21 Championship, which is scheduled to take place on 9 November in Aalborg, will also be screened live on TV 2.
