NTV/NTV Plus awarded exclusive media rights

Exclusive UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League media rights for the 2012-15 period in Russia have been awarded to existing partners NTV and NTV PLUS.

UEFA announced today the award of exclusive media rights for the 2012-15 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in Russia to NTV and NTV PLUS. The media rights also include the UEFA Super Cup in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The deal sees the continuation of the current successful partnership between UEFA and the NTV/NTV PLUS group and reflects the increased profile and popularity of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League in Russia.

To reflect and further increase this interest, NTV/NTV PLUS will deliver significant coverage of both competitions with the simultaneous broadcast of at least six live matches every Tuesday and Wednesday during the UEFA Champions League and six live matches from each UEFA Europa League kick-off slot on the NTV/NTV PLUS family of channels.

In addition, NTV's commitment to free-to-air highlights has increased markedly from the current cycle.

In line with UEFA's platform neutral approach, all games from both UEFA club competitions will also be exploited on the internet via the ntv.ru and ntvplus.ru websites, and through mobile technology via NTV/NTV PLUS mobile services.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA, said of the deal: "UEFA is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with NTV and NTV PLUS in Russia, a country whose football clubs have enjoyed increased success in recent years in UEFA competitions. UEFA firmly believes that NTV and NTV PLUS, through their enhanced programming commitment, will continue building on these successes to further develop the profile of either competition in Russia while providing football fans across the country with the opportunity to enjoy extensive coverage of the best of European club football through to 2015."
