UEFA announced today that SuperSport has renewed its pay television media rights deal for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in sub-Saharan Africa for the 2012-15 period.
Leading pay-TV operator SuperSport will broadcast four live UEFA Champions League matches each matchnight as well as highlights. SuperSport's UEFA Europa League coverage will feature eight live matches, four from each kick-off slot, plus highlights. The deal also includes the UEFA Super Cup in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
In addition, African football fans will be able to access the best of European club football on the internet via www.supersport.com and via mobile, thus maintaining UEFA's platform neutral approach.
Commenting on the award of these rights, UEFA said: "UEFA is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with SuperSport. Not only does this deal mark further commitment in terms of programming for both competitions, but it also shows SuperSport's dedication in extending the reach of UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League coverage to football fans across the region.
"SuperSport is an experienced producer with an unrivalled quality of programming and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them through to 2015."
The remaining rights on offer, aimed at free-to-air broadcasters, are still to be awarded in the region. They comprise the first pick (including the final and UEFA Super Cup) of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League games and highlights that night, plus the first pick of a UEFA Europa League match and highlights.
