UEFA announced today that it has reached an exclusive agreement with Mediaset España, owner of leading commercial television channels Telecinco and Cuatro, for the broadcasting rights in Spain to all 31 matches of UEFA EURO 2012.
Mediaset España will screen matches live on Telecinco and/or Cuatro and will complement its live broadcast offering with a package of dedicated magazine and highlights programmes – guaranteeing extensive free TV coverage of the tournament in the home of the world and European champions. In addition, Mediaset España will deliver comprehensive internet and mobile services.
The deal also includes media rights for the 2011 and 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championships. Commenting on the agreement, Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA, said: "We are delighted to welcome Mediaset España to the group of exclusive UEFA EURO 2012 media rights partners. We are convinced that Mediaset España, with its extensive experience, will provide Spanish football fans with a unique viewing experience for all three tournaments."
