RAI wins Italian EURO 2012 rights

UEFA has announced that it has agreed an exclusive deal with RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana for the broadcasting rights in Italy to every match of UEFA EURO 2012 next summer.

UEFA has reached an exclusive agreement with RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana for the broadcasting rights in Italy for all 31 matches of the UEFA EURO 2012 finals.

RAI will cover the matches live across its channels RAI Uno and RAI Due. It will complement this live broadcast offering with a package of dedicated magazine and highlights programmes, guaranteeing extensive free television coverage of the tournament in Italy. In addition, RAI will deliver comprehensive internet and mobile services on a live and on-demand basis. RAI also acquired the media rights for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Commenting on the agreement, Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA, said: "We are delighted to continue our relationship with RAI, our long-standing broadcast partner in Italy, for the UEFA European Football Championship. RAI has an exceptional track record of broadcasting major international sporting events and is the perfect home for UEFA EURO 2012. Football fans in Italy will be offered an excellent broadcast platform and a fantastic viewing experience."

UEFA Events is a wholly owned subsidiary of UEFA, created to manage and handle the European governing body's commercial and event operations. It is, among other things, responsible for generating media rights, sponsorship, licensing and hospitality revenue from all professional national team and club competitions, and for managing relationships with all associated commercial partners.
