UEFA has announced today that the TV4/Canal+ Group has been awarded media rights for the UEFA Europa League in Denmark, Norway and Sweden for the 2012-15 period.
The TV4/Canal+ Group has committed to a significant amount of live match programming across the three territories:
• In Denmark, free channel Canal 9 will broadcast the first-pick match live, followed by a highlights programme each matchweek. At least two additional games per kick-off slot will also be shown live on the Canal+ branded channels.
• In Norway, the first-pick match and highlights will be screened on a free basis, with comprehensive coverage of live games and highlights broadcast across the Canal+ family of channels.
• Swedish fans will be able to enjoy coverage of the best UEFA Europa League match each matchweek live on free channel TV4 Sport, followed by a comprehensive highlights package. Similar to Denmark and Norway, additional games will be shown live on Canal+ branded channels.
In line with UEFA's platform-neutral approach, the rights will also be exploited on the internet via the TV4/Canal+ Group's websites and mobile platforms in the various territories.
Commenting on the award of the UEFA Europa League media rights, UEFA said: "UEFA is delighted to have TV4/Canal+ as a broadcast partner for the UEFA Europa League in 2012-15. Its extensive broadcast knowledge, strong programming commitments and expertise will ensure significant exposure of the competition across the Scandinavian region."
UEFA would like to thank current rights holders, Modern Times Group, for its commitment and dedication to the UEFA Europa League in Denmark and Norway.
