UEFA today warns all football fans against illegal lotteries ahead of the 2010 UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League finals to be held on 12 May in Hamburg and on 25 May in Madrid respectively.
No connection to UEFA
UEFA has regularly been alerted to emails referring to its different competitions and informing recipients that they have been selected as prize winners in a lottery draw and have won substantial sums of money. These lotteries claim to be official and the emails often use official UEFA design elements, but UEFA insists that they have no connection to UEFA, its official partners or any of its competitions.
Extreme caution
UEFA strongly advises the public to treat any emails concerning lottery draws or cash prizes with extreme caution and urges people not to provide any personal or financial details if requested to do so. UEFA does not organise lotteries and never sends unsolicited emails.
