EURO media rights deals signed for Southeast Asia

UEFA has announced media rights agreements for UEFA EURO 2012 with now TV in Hong Kong, StarHub in Singapore and Shwe Than Lwin Media (S Media) in Myanmar.

UEFA today announced exclusive media rights agreements for UEFA EURO 2012 in Hong Kong, Singapore and Myanmar.

The agreement with now TV in Hong Kong follows on from the successful partnership with UEFA during UEFA EURO 2008. All 31 matches will be broadcast live in HD on now TV's sports channels, in addition to a number of magazine programmes, and daily and weekly highlights shows throughout the tournament.

In Singapore, StarHub has been awarded the media rights to UEFA EURO 2012. All matches will be screened live, supported by highlights packages and pre-tournament magazine shows. Starhub will also broadcast the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship and UEFA Women's EURO 2013 to football fans in Singapore.

Moreover, now TV will offer all UEFA EURO 2012 games across its internet and mobile platforms, and will broadcast the 2013 Under-21 Championship and UEFA Women's EURO 2013 to fans in Hong Kong.

In Myanmar, Shwe Than Lwin Media (S Media) has been granted the exclusive media rights to UEFA EURO 2012. All 31 matches will be screened live in Myanmar on S Media's pay-TV channels, Skynet Sports Channels 1 and 2. As well as the live coverage, S Media will show highlights and tournament-related magazine programmes.

Furthermore, a minimum of eight games will be available on free-to-air television in Myanmar, and S Media will provide simultaneous broadcast coverage of all matches on its internet platform. The agreement also includes rights to the 2013 U21 Championship and UEFA Women's EURO 2013.

Sportfive was appointed by UEFA as exclusive sales agency for the UEFA EURO 2012 media rights in selected markets in Asia and across Oceania. The agreement, which also contains the rights to the 2011 and 2013 U21 Championships and the next Women's EURO, covers a total of 49 territories, including China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Vietnam and Australia.
