UEFA Grassroots Day was celebrated across the Netherlands on 4 June with activities organised by the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) in each of the association's six districts.
The National Youth Voetbaldag proved to be a great success as thousands of children enjoyed football-based fun around the country. During the day all aspects of grassroots football were on show, including the district schools finals, street soccer events, football for the disabled, futsal, shooting games, and clinics for coaches.
In district South I, more than 600 children and 40 volunteers were involved in activities at the complex of grassroots club VV Bladella in the town of Bladel. The club's chairman, Rene Berg, was delighted with how the day went. He said: "It's always exciting when you get so many people, but I'm glad everything went well. For football fans, this is a great day."
The Bladel festivities concluded with an Under-19 cup final between NAC Breda and FC Utrecht, in which Breda emerged victorious, coming from a goal down and a man disadvantage to win 2-1.
