The Moldovan Football Association (FMF) has benefited not only from the construction of a new headquarters in 1998, but is set to launch a national training centre 30 minutes from the capital, Chisinau.
Impressive complex
Together with the close co-operation of FIFA and their Goal project, the FMF will soon open their national training centre, which will comprise two natural grass pitches and one artificial pitch. UEFA - through the East European Assistance Bureau (EEAB) - will help in the purchase of the furniture for the centre and all the necessary technical infrastructure to guarantee water and electricity supply. With work ongoing, inauguration is planned during summer 2002.
Continuing development
The centre, together with the headquarters of the FMF, which were built between 1997 and 1998 with EEAB assistance, will help to strengthen the football base in Moldova for years to come.
New building
FMF president Pavel Ciobanu recalls that when the association was founded, it began its activities in a completely run-down building. UEFA's assistance programmes senior manager Erich Epple visited Chisinau in 1996, and was informed that, in the meantime, construction of new premises had stopped because of a lack of funds. The building was bought by the FMF and restored to its current excellent condition.
Fine facilities
The association premises contain one large conference room, while the IT department has a large room available to produce all the printing material related to football in the country. Seventeen offices are available for the association's staff, as well as two garage areas.
