Co-operation and funding
Reconstruction work on the pitch involved joint co-operation and funding between UEFA and the local club, FHK Liepajas Metalurgs, who have been regular UEFA club competition participants for some years.
EEAB funds
Numerous items of work have been carried out, as a result of funds provided via UEFA's East European Assistance Bureau (EEAB), including re-turfing and an overhaul of the irrigation system. The last renovation work was undertaken 50 years ago.
Latvian campaign
This project is the latest stage in the Latvian Football Federation's drive to improve the quality of its stadium infrastructure to meet UEFA's stringent requirements. Previous work at the Daugava stadium took place in 1998, when new lighting was installed.
