UEFA help
Officials from UEFA's assistance programme paid a recent visit to the city of Krasnoyarsk in central Siberia, where they discovered the extent to which UEFA's help is appreciated.
Coaches' course
More than 70 youth coaches from across the region gathered in Krasnoyarsk for a two-day coaches' course held under UEFA's auspices, with discussions centring on how to develop the talented players of tomorrow.
Crucial role
Piotr Maranda, the Polish Football Federation's coach educator, was the lecturer at the course, which consisted of various theoretical and practical units, and was designed to give the participants a better understanding of their crucial role in helping young footballers achieve their potential.
Artificial pitch
Krasnoyarsk is also one of three cities which will receive a new artificial pitch as a result of UEFA's assistance. The pitch will be installed at the Yunost training centre next to the city's central stadium, thereby giving the local population, and in particular youngsters, the opportunity to train on a good playing surface.
October hope
The city authorities will prepare the ground, changing rooms and a small stand, and if everything goes to plan, the pitch will be ready by early October. The other two cities which will receive artificial turf pitches are Rostov-on-Don and Azov.
