SK Rapid Wien have lodged an appeal against the punishment handed down by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body following incidents at the UEFA Europa League play-off first leg against Greek opponents PAOK FC in Salonika on 23 August.
The Austrian club were fined €75,000, and ordered to play their next UEFA competition home game behind closed doors. The punishment did not apply to the UEFA Europa League play-off second leg between Rapid and PAOK in Vienna on 30 August. Rapid won 3-0 to advance to the UEFA Europa League group stage on a 4-2 aggregate scoreline.
Rapid were also disqualified from one (current or future) UEFA competition for which it would normally qualify within the next five years. This ban is suspended for a probationary period of three years.
The meeting of the UEFA Appeals Body will be held on Friday 14 September 2012.
