Three-match ban for Fred

Olympique Lyonnais striker Fred has been suspended for three matches by UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body having been found guilty of elbowing AS Roma defender Cristian Chivu during the French club's exit from the UEFA Champions League on 6 March.

UEFA studied video images of the incident, which had not been noticed by the referee. As Lyon were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on the night, the ban will apply to the next three UEFA club competition matches that Fred is eligible to play, although the 23-year-old Brazilian does have the right to appeal the decision.
