Rangers FC striker Jean-Claude Darcheville has been suspended for three UEFA competition matches after his dismissal for deliberately stepping on an opponent's ankle in the UEFA Champions League Group E game against Olympique Lyonnais in Glasgow on 12 December.
Misses UEFA Cup matches
The verdict by UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body means that Darcheville will miss both of his team's UEFA Cup Round of 32 matches against Greek opponents Panathinaikos FC, in Glasgow and Athens on 13 and 21 February respectively, as well as one further future UEFA competition game. Rangers are now in the UEFA Cup after finishing third in their UEFA Champions League group.
Appeal deadline
The 32-year-old Darcheville was sent off in the 91st minute of the match, which Lyon won 3-0, for the incident. An appeal may be lodged against the verdict within three days of receipt of the reasoned decision.
