EURO stadium and security training continues

UEFA EURO 2012 stadium and security training continued with a workshop for the four Polish host cities which was held in Warsaw and organised by UEFA and the Council of Europe.

The latest workshop in the UEFA stadium and security unit's training programme for the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament has taken place in Warsaw.

The workshop itself was jointly organised by UEFA and the Council of Europe, with the programme being delivered by recognised experts from the Sports Ground Safety Authority in the United Kingdom.

The three-day workshop focused on crucial matters related to stadium management and inspection, with emphasis given to dynamic risk assessment, integrated safety management and development of contingency plans.

The audience was drawn from all four host cities in Poland – Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw – and included stadium safety managers, police and representatives of the Polish city authorities responsible for issuing permission for matches to take place at all UEFA EURO 2012 venues.

The lessons learned at the workshop were already in evidence at last week’s opening game at the National Stadium Warsaw, where Andrzej Kruczynski, the safety manager for the event, referred to progress in stadium safety policies made as a result of the training when he addressed the matchday organisational meeting.

A similar event is scheduled for the Ukrainian capital Kyiv between 21 and 23 March, involving the four Ukrainian host cities – Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Lviv.
