UEFA in full support of FIFA Olympic position
Tuesday 3 February 2009UEFA has declared its support for proposals by world football's governing body FIFA to abolish the rule whereby teams can field 'over-age' players in the Olympic Games football tournament.
'Excellent initiative'
The European governing body was responding to declarations by FIFA President, Joseph S Blatter, proposing to discontinue provisions in the tournament regulations whereby teams may add to the official list of players for the Olympic Games final tournament a maximum of three players who are over the age limit of 23.
