EURO 2016 decision on Friday

The UEFA EURO 2016 bid process concludes in Geneva on Friday when the host association will be announced after final presentations by the three candidates and a voting procedure.

The host association of UEFA EURO 2016 will be selected by the UEFA Executive Committee and announced on Friday at a ceremony in Geneva.

The host association will be named by the UEFA president at an announcement ceremony taking place from 13.00CET at the Espace Hippomène in the Swiss city.

The naming proceedings will follow a busy morning when the three candidates to host UEFA EURO 2016 – Turkey, Italy and France – will make the final formal presentations of their bids to the UEFA Executive Committee.

The final presentations will run from 09.30, with the Turkish Football Association (TFF), the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the French Football Federation (FFF) taking the stage in turn at the Espace Hippomène, scene of all Friday's activities. The order of each presentation has been pre-defined by a draw.

Once the presentations are made, the UEFA Executive Committee will gather, from 11.45, to deliberate and vote. The announcement ceremony will follow directly the voting process at 13.00.

In accordance with the UEFA European Football Championship 2014–16 bid regulations, UEFA president Michel Platini (France), UEFA first vice-president Şenes Erzik (Turkey) and UEFA Executive Committee member Giancarlo Abete (Italy) will not be entitled to participate in the deliberation and voting process.

Consequently, and according to the Statutes of UEFA, the second vice-president Geoffrey Thompson (England) will be chair of the meeting and will be allowed to vote together with the other 12 members of the Executive Committee.

Representatives of the three bidding associations handed over their bid dossiers to UEFA in February, and since then UEFA has produced an evaluation reportpublished on UEFA.com earlier this month – which analysed each bid under more than 100 technical criteria.

The bidders received their respective section of the evaluation report in late April and met with UEFA and UEFA National Team Competitions Committee delegates at the start of May.

The UEFA National Team Competitions Committee will assemble again on Wednesday to finalise technical recommendations to the UEFA Executive Committee, and the key aspects of the bid and technical evaluations will be presented by National Team Competitions Committee delegates to the Executive Committee on Thursday.

Friday's activities in Geneva come on the second and final day of the UEFA Executive Committee's latest meeting.
