The host association of UEFA EURO 2016 will be named at a ceremony from 13.00CET in Geneva after the three candidates to host the finals – Turkey, Italy and France – made the final formal presentations of their bids to the UEFA Executive Committee this morning.
The Turkish Football Association (TFF) took to the stage at the Espace Hippomène from 09.40 and was followed by delegations from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the French Football Federation (FFF), in an order pre-defined by a draw.
The UEFA Executive Committee gathered after the presentations to deliberate and vote. UEFA president Michel Platini (France), UEFA first vice-president Şenes Erzik (Turkey) and UEFA Executive Committee member Giancarlo Abete (Italy) will not be entitled to participate in the deliberation and voting process.
Consequently, and according to the Statutes of UEFA, the second vice-president Geoffrey Thompson (England) is chairing the meeting and will be allowed to vote together with the other 12 members of the Executive Committee.
The announcement ceremony will follow directly the voting process from 13.00, when the UEFA president will reveal which country will host the first 24-team finals.
You will be able to follow both the ceremony and the subsequent press conference with the president of the winning association (at approximately 13.25) live on UEFA.com.
