ICRC on board for 2008

The International Committee of the Red Cross is named as UEFA's official EURO charity partner.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will be UEFA's official charity partner for UEFA EURO 2008™ in Austria and Switzerland.

Social responsibility
The ICRC is a long-standing partner of European football's governing body, and joined forces with UEFA for the 2004 finals in Portugal to publicise the problem of children in war. In addition, the two organisations have promoted other issues such as landmines. UEFA operates a clear social responsibility policy in the belief that football can be used as a force to help shape society. The partnership with the ICRC for 2008 aims to build on the positive experiences in Portugal, when the tournament referees helped promote the joint campaign.
