Draw cannot dent Terim's faith

Fatih Terim remains confident of Galatasaray SK's progress despite a 0-0 draw with Club Brugge KV.

Galatasaray SK coach Fatih Terim was not too downhearted after his team drew 0-0 with Club Brugge KV at the Ali Sami Yen stadium.

Terim confident

'We can qualify'
"We couldn't get the point that we wanted but we still have the advantage," said Terim. "We can win the other games and qualify for the next stage."

Defensive steel
In a game of few chances, Galatasaray were held by a Brugge side who defended in depth and showed real determination as they aim to continue their challenge for a place in the second group stage, and Terim admitted that the Belgian side had frustrated his players on home territory.

Defensive football
"Brugge played very defensive football and we couldn't break them down," he said. "We didn't get the three points but we had a lot of chances to score many goals and couldn't make our possession tell."

Positive attitude
He refused to blame his players for their lack of touch in front of goal, preferring to dwell on their positive attitude. "In the game against Barcelona my players accepted the defeat but this time they tried to score a goal until the very last minute," he said. "I am very proud of my players.

Played well
"All my players were tired in the last ten minutes but we tried our best for the other 80 minutes," he added. "My forwards had a lot of possession but they couldn't score the goal we needed. Apart from the result we played well."

Defensive admission
Terim's Brugge counterpart Trond Sollied was a happy man, despite his team's total of just two points in the group so far. He made no apology for his team's defensive tactics and was delighted that his side would return from Istanbul with a draw to their names.

Pragmatic approach
"We came here for a point so I am very satisfied," said Sollied. "We are very happy with the result. Galatasaray had a lot of chances but they couldn't score the goal."

Unassailable lead
While Barcelona's win in Moscow has left the Spanish side with an almost unassailable lead at the top of their qualifying group, the Brugge coach refused to abandon hope of overhauling Galatasaray and taking second place in Group H.

'Anything can happen'
"The next game is at home against Galatasaray so we will have the advantage and try to take all three points," said Sollied. "We still have a chance to qualify for the next phase. In this group, my favourites had been Barcelona and Galatasaray but anything can happen before the last game finishes."
