Juve forced to travel light

An influenza outbreak has ruled five Juventus FC players out of their visit to Manchester United FC.

Juventus FC have been hit by an outbreak of influenza which has left five players out of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match against Manchester United FC at Old Trafford.

Stars out
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, defender Alessandro Birindelli, midfield player Gianluca Zambrotta and strikers Marco Di Vaio and Marcelo Salas have all stayed at home in Italy, reducing the travelling party to just 15 players and leaving Juventus with only four substitutes for the match.

Long list
Marcello Lippi's side were already without playmaker Alessandro Del Piero due to a thigh injury, while Croatian utility player Igor Tudor, who has an ankle injury, and defender Mark Iuliano, who has a high temperature, have also been ruled out.

Rookie in
Antonio Chimenti will replace Buffon, while Uruguayan Marcelo Zalayeta is the only forward available to partner Frenchman David Trezeguet in attack. Juventus' youth-team goalkeeper, 19-year-old Frenchman Landry Bonnefoi, who has never made a first-team appearance, will be one of the four substitutes.
