Cúper extends Inter adventure

Héctor Cúper has renewed his contract with Internazionale FC for a further two years.

Argentinian coach Héctor Cúper reaffirmed his commitment to Internazionale FC today by renewing his contract with the Milan side until 2005.

No doubt
The 48-year-old made it clear that renewing the deal was never in doubt. "I didn't think it would be a problem to reach an agreement," he said. "I have always felt trusted by president Massimo Moratti."

Fine season
Cúper is enjoying a fine season with Inter, who are behind Juventus FC only on goal difference at the summit of Serie A and lie second to FC Barcelona in UEFA Champions League Group A.

Final disappointment
The coach joined Inter in 2001 from Valencia CF, leading the club to third position in his first season in Italy and only missing out on the title on the final day of the campaign.

Champions heartache
He guided Valencia to two consecutive Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001, losing to Real Madrid CF and FC Bayern München respectively.

Mallorca fame
After beginning his coaching career in 1993 with Argentinian side Club Atlético Huracán, before moving to Club Atlético Lanús, Cúper then moved to Europe, joining Spanish side RCD Mallorca in 1999.

Lazio loss
Cúper further established his growing reputation with the Primera División side, who he took to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final, where they were defeated by S.S. Lazio.
