Córdoba commits to Besiktas

Colombia goalkeeper Oscar Córdoba has committed his future to Turkish champions Besiktas JK.

Move made permanent
Córdoba joined Besiktas from Argentina's CA Boca Juniors last summer on a two-year loan and the Turkish champions made the move permanent earlier this summer by paying Boca €1.4m. Interest from other clubs had left Córdoba uncertain about whether he wanted to remain in Istanbul but Besiktas have now persuaded him to sign a new deal.

'Very happy'
"We never wanted to let him go. We like him very much and feel very happy that we will see him in the Besiktas goal for another three years," said Besiktas vice-president Hüsnü Güreli. Córdoba said: "My mind is clear now and all I am thinking of is Besiktas and their success. I want to end my playing career in Turkey."
