Friday hearing for Desailly

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has instigated proceedings against Chelsea FC's Marcel Desailly.

Video evidence will be used against the veteran French international, after he appeared to strike Monaco forward Fernando Morientes in the face five minutes after half-time. Desailly's case will be dealt with on Friday along with that of Monaco midfield player Akis Zikos, sent off in the 53rd minute.

Makelele suspended
The Greek international was dismissed by Swiss referee Urs Meier for pushing Claude Makelele, who was booked for his part in the incident. It was the Chelsea midfielder's third caution in the competition, ruling him out of the 5 May return in London. The decisions will be revealed at approximately 16.00CET.
