Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht have signed midfield player Fabrice Ehret from RC Strasbourg.

Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht have signed midfield player Fabrice Ehret from RC Strasbourg.

German competition
The 24-year-old left winger has signed a two-year contract with the option of a further two years if all goes well. The Belgian side beat off competition from German sides DSC Arminia Bielefeld and 1. FC Kaiserslautern, both of whom were reportedly keen to sign the player.

Broos excited
"Ehret might become the new [Christian] Wilhelmsson," said coach Hugo Broos of the club's Swedish international. "He was also unknown when we first signed him. He is a player who can control the whole left flank and also is strong in attack."

French national
The midfield player was born in Switzerland but took French nationality. This season he has played 27 games in Ligue 1 for Strasbourg, scoring two goals in the process. He also received six yellow cards and two red ones.
