Neville sidelined by knee injury

Manchester United FC and England defender Gary Neville will be out for up to a month with a knee problem.

Hairline fracture
The 29-year-old suffered a hairline fracture of his kneecap during England's 2-1 victory in Poland last Wednesday. While Sir Alex Ferguson had initially thought the player would be fit to travel to Olympique Lyonnais for United's Group D match on Wednesday, a club spokesman said today: "Gary has a hairline fracture in his left kneecap and we expect him to be out for between three or four weeks."

England absence
Neville, who will sit out Premiership games against Liverpool FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Middlesbrough FC, will also be missing when Fenerbahçe SK make the trip to Old Trafford on 28 September. The right-back is also a doubt for England when they take on Wales and Azerbaijan in FIFA World Cup qualifying next month.
