Mestalla incidents under spotlight

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Valencia CF after disturbances against Werder Bremen.

Angulo sent off
Valencia could face charges of improper conduct relating to the team's behaviour and the throwing of missiles by home supporters during the 2-0 defeat at the Mestalla that confirmed their elimination from European competition. In addition, Miguel Ángel Angulo faces disciplinary action for his red card and a subsequent spitting offence.

Angry exchange
Disciplinary proceedings have also been opened against Bremen over the improper conduct of their players. After Angulo was sent off in the closing minutes for a foul on Bremen goalscorer Nelson Valdez, an angry exchange followed between players from both teams.

Madrid incidents
The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will deal with the case when it meets on 14 December. Tomorrow, meanwhile, it will meet to look into the racist incidents which occurred during the Champions League match between Real Madrid CF and Bayer 04 Leverkusen on 23 November. A decision on that matter is expected on Friday.
