Nieto awarded Rangers role

Scottish side Rangers FC have signed Argentinian striker Federico Nieto from Club Almagro on a six-month loan.

Scoring successes
The 21-year-old joins from Club Almagro in his homeland, where he scored six goals in nine league starts in 2004/05, and the UEFA Champions League hopefuls have the option to buy him on a five-year contract in January. Nieto struck 22 goals in 31 games in 2003/04 to help Almagro win promotion to Argentina's top flight.

'Huge asset'
"Nieto is an exciting prospect and we could not afford to wait to sign him as his value will surely escalate as he continues to improve and develop," Rangers manager Alex McLeish said. "While he is maybe not yet the finished article, he will join our first-team squad and I believe he will potentially be a huge asset to our team. I am delighted he has decided to come to Rangers despite many offers from elsewhere."
