Heinze floored by knee injury

Manchester United FC will be without defender Gabriel Heinze for "most of the season" after the Argentinian sustained cruciate ligament damage.

Kromkamp clash
The 27-year-old was injured in a challenge with Villarreal CF's Jan Kromkamp during the first half of United's UEFA Champions League Group D stalemate in Spain, and Sir Alex Ferguson has accepted the problem will sideline Heinze for much of the campaign. "It's not good news," the manager said. "He'll be out for most of the season. It's a bad blow."

Additional blow
Heinze's injury is another blow to United following the news that Roy Keane will be out of action for two weeks with a hamstring strain. United also have Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Louis Saha and Quinton Fortune on their injury list while Ole Gunnar Solskjær's return after a long lay-off has been put back by a fresh knee complaint.
