Ball and Reiziger out for PSV

PSV Eindhoven have been dealt a double injury blow with defenders Michael Reiziger and Michael Ball both facing time on the sidelines.

Ball woe
The pair were injured in Sunday's 1-0 league defeat at FC Groningen, with former England left-back Ball succumbing to the more serious complaint. The 25-year-old transfer deadline-day signing from Rangers FC appears to have suffered a ligament tear in his right knee, which will rule him out for six to eight weeks.

Reiziger setback
Unlike Reiziger, however, Ball is ineligible for the Champions League group stage. Reiziger played in last week's 1-0 Group E win against FC Schalke 04 but is set to miss the Matchday 2 trip to Fenerbahçe SK after tearing a muscle in his right hip. PSV expect to do without the 32-year-old ex-Dutch international for "a few weeks". The Eredivisie champions at least hope to recover Brazilian defender Alex shortly after a week out with a right knee injury.
