Lyon receive Berthod boost

Injured Olympique Lyonnais defender Jérémy Berthod will be back in time to face PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on 21 February.

Quintet unavailable
Nonetheless, Berthod's short-term absence adds to coach Gérard Houllier's selection problems with five first-team defenders now missing. Claudio Caçapa, Eric Abidal and Anthony Réveillère are injured, while Lamine Diatta is at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.

New signing?
Réveillère should return to full fitness ahead of Sunday's trip to AS Monaco FC, while club president Jean-Michel Aulas has stated his intention to sign a new defender before the January transfer window closes. Meanwhile, it is anticipated that the left-sided Berthod will be available for the Round of 16 first-leg tie at PSV, the side that knocked Lyon out of last season's competition at the quarter-final stage. The return fixture takes place at Stade Gerland on 8 March.
